Josephine Peters, a Karuk weaver now in her seventies, gives wonderful insights into some of the patterns she used. Her extremely fine caps such as the rain pattern cap has a diagonal sense of
movement spiraling the cap (fig. 24). Some leading Karuk weavers preferred these diagonal patterns that were most highly developed in the unique trinket baskets of Elizabeth and Louisa
Hickox (fig. 25).
