Instruction for Authors Format Acceptance and Publication Procedure Frequency of Publication

  • The Humboldt Journal of Social Relations will accept for publication original research, critical essays, and book reviews in the areas of sociology, anthropology, social welfare, geography, political science, economics, history,education and psychology.

  • We welcome potential contributors, including students, to submit manuscripts. Articles will be reviewed by three or more members of university communities across the country whose interest and competence qualify them as judges.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

 

  • Authors are requested to print their name on the title page only of the article or book review and to include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with their manuscripts if they wish them to be returned. We solicit book reviews continuously. Please submit four copies of all materials, typewritten, double-spaced, with an abstract and short biographical sketch. Papers should be written in conformance with the American Sociological Review style

FORMAT

  • Papers must be submitted in one the following formats:
    • Microsoft Word™ Version 6.0 or higher
    • WordPerfect Corporations Wordperfect™ Version 6.0 or higher
    • Lotus Development Corporations Amipro Version 3.0 or higher
    • Microsoft Rich Text Format (RTF)
    • Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) with or without Netscape's HTML extensions

  • Notice: Due to rising costs in processing and postage it is necessary to charge a $10.00 fee with the submission of each manuscript for publication consideration.

ACCEPTANCE AND PUBLICATION PROCEDURE

  • Papers should be submitted by regular mail service to the editors in one of the approved formats [see Instructions for Authors for specifics]. Publication of accepted papers will hopefully occur within a calendar year conditioned on the following:
    1. The paper is refereed within the required time;
    2. requires no amendments;
    3. and, was submitted fully marked up in MS Word 6.0 or higher or HTML..

Accepted papers are added to the current volume of the journal immediately. All volumes of the journal will be available on Internet through the HJSR Hypermedia Publications page.

 

  • Material appearing in the Humboldt Journal of Social Relations is listed in Psychological Abstracts, Sociological Abstracts, Abstracts for Social Workers, Sociology of America, A Guide to Information Sources and Bowker Serial Directories. The HJSR is a member of the International Social Science Honor Society, Delta Tau Kappa.

FREQUENCY OF PUBLICATION

  • There will one volume and two issues of the Humboldt Journal of Social Relations for each calendar year. The HJSR web site contents page for the journal will be updated as each new issue is published and at the close of each volume a complete copy of the journal for that year will be e-mailed to all contributors.

COPYRIGHT POLICY

  • Anyone may access the Humboldt Journal of Social Relations web site via the Internet free of charge. Readers agree to acknowledge both the authors and the journal for any use of the material published in Humboldt Journal of Social Relations. No part of the journal abstracts may be copied for commercial purposes.
  • The Humboldt Journal of Social Relations retains full copyrights to the articles and materials. Permission to reprint must be obtained from the Humboldt Journal Editor or a designated staff member. As a condition of publication, however, authors agree to make their material freely available to all subscribers for an indefinite period. Further, authors agree to cite the Humboldt Journal of Social Relations versions of their papers if related versions are published elsewhere. Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy and correctness of their contributions.

Finally, neither the authors, editors, staff, advisory board, nor the Humboldt State University shall be held in any way liable for any use that is made of information obtained from the journal.

BOOK REVIEW EDITORIAL POLICY

  • The Humboldt Journal of Social Relations has a diversified audience of academicians, researchers, and practitioners from a wide variety of academic fields. As such, a wide variety of books are received and selected for review. Books are also selected that deal with a number of different social science related issues that have interests for our readers.
