Hydnum repandum
Hydnum repandum, formerly known as Dentinum repandum,
can be recognized by the spinose hymenophore that is white, the
white stipe, and the convex pileus that has orangish tones and
is 2-6 inches in diameter. Hydnum umbilicatum differs
by having an umbilicate pileus that is up to 2 inches in diameter.
Hydnum repandum var. macrosporum is much larger
with a pileus from 6-12 inches in diameter. All three taxa have
a fruiting body that is determinate in growth.
