Boletus edulis

Boletus edulis can be recognized by the tan pileus which is glabrous and dry when fresh, white tubes when young, and net at the apex of the stipe. Several form of B. edulis are now considered species: B. aereus, with its viscid, dark grey to black pileus and its association with oaks; B. fibrillosus, with its dry, fibrillose, reddish-brown pileus and its association with spruce.
