Xeromphalina: numerous species all of which occur on conifer logs or branches. The genus is characterized macroscopically by its reddish-brown pileus and by the hairy stipe base which is typically bright orange to orange-brown in fresh fruiting bodies. The most typical species are Omphalinoid; the rare species are Collybioid.
