Tylopilus: brown or pink spores; porose hymenophore. Stature: typically Naucorioid to Trichomatoid. Habitat: mycorrhizal with conifers. See boletes.

.	In our area, T. pseudoscaber is the most commons species; it is entirely dark brown except for the whitish mycelium at the stipe-base and it is associated with Sitka spruce.
