Rozites caperata: rusty-brown spores; brownish gills which often have a whitish margin; smooth tan pileus which is often wrinkled, fibrous stipe which is pruinose at the apex, has a distinct, membranous annulus, and is nearly concolorous with the pileus. Stature: Armillarioid.
Rozites caperata is the only species in the genus and in
the Fall of 1996 was found at the top of Murray Road and along
the trail to the group campground in Gold Bluff Beach State Park
portion of Davison Road. Rozites is considered an annulate
species of Cortinarius since the spores of the two genera
are similar.
It is edible.
