Leptonia: spores flesh-brown; stature omphalinoid or collybioid; pileus ornamented like that of a Lepiota with the disc ornamented more distinctly that the rest of the pileus. In Leptiota the disc is tomentose and the remainder of the pileus is squamulose; in Leptonia the disc is tomentulose and the remainder of the pileus is pruinose to pruinose-squamulose.
Species of Leptonia are very abundant in coastal forest
which are dominated with the Coast Redwood.
