Laccaria: white spores; bald pileus; fibrous-pliant stipe
which often is longitudinally striate; pale pink to purple, thick,
wax-like gills when young. Stature: Naucorioid or Tricholomatoid.
Species of Laccaria are very abundant in northern California
during mid-Fall to mid-Winter where they form associations with
hardwoods and with conifers.
