Chroogomphus: smoke-gray to black spore print; thick, decurrent gills; pileal flesh is ochraceous of orangish pileal flesh. Statue type: Clitocyboid; Hygrophoroid. Gomphidus differs by having white flesh. Chroogomphus tomentosus, C. rutilus.
