Bolete genera: hymenophore porose, removeable from the pileus; basidiocarp monomitic.

Tylopilus: spores and tube smoky colored.

Leccinum: with scabrosities at the apex

Pulveroboletus: with tubes and fibrillose partial veil, both of which are golden-yellow.

Suillus: spores olive to olive brown, none of the features above; diagnostic features viscid to glutinous pileus and/or punctae at stipe apex and/or annulus.

Boletus: spores olive to olive-brown; none of features above; diagnostic features net at apex of stipe and/or blood-red tubes when young and/or tubes stain distinctly blue when bruised.
