PHALLALES: basidiomes epigeous; hymenium present; peridium 1-layered; gleba slimy; spores dark; the stinkhorns, a name derived from the odor emitted from the gleba as mature spores are produced. Flies feed on the gleba portions and the spores stick to the surface of the fly.
