all quizzes will be inclusive of all lecture and laboratory material covered up to and including the material covered on the date of the quiz; questions on material to be covered will be used to determine if you have looked over the material in the your textbooks
all laboratory quizzes will last between 15 and 30
minutes; all field quizzes will be given at the end of the field
trip
4 Quizzes can be substituted for
1- 100 point examination. However, in order to substitute the
quizzes, all 4 examinations have to be taken and a score of 40%
or more has to be achieved on the examinations. If you score less
than 40% on any examination, you can not substitute the quizzes
for that examination.

VI. REQUIRED/OPTIONAL FIELD TRIPS:
In the catalogue, Botany 359 states that there are 3 hours of
laboratory or field work per week. The laboratories on the following
dates will be held in the field.

Meet At the entrance to East Fork Campground located on Highway 299. East Fork is located just at the beginning of the passing lane after you go over Berry Summit.

Begin at 2:15 PM and End at 5:15 PM (field trip leader-- Franklin)
24 passenger Bus will be available for these field trips.
Leave HSU in front of Forestry Building at 7:45 AM and Return at 12:45
Leave HSU in front of Forestry Building at 1:00 PM
and Return by 6PM

VII. PAPER
You can substitute 2 quizzes for a total 50 points
by completing the following a paper. Your decision has
to be made in writing by the beginning of lecture on Tuesday,
8 September. Note: if you miss one of the two field trips
on which quizzes will be held, you must complete a paper.
Please note: the only excuseable absences on field trips will
be due to illness (you must bring a note from the doctor) or conflicts
with other field trips (you need to show conflicts).
Writing at least a 6-page paper on a contemporary
topic on fungi. By looking through the book, you can find numerous
topics. You can choose the topic; however you should discuss the
topic with your instructor.
Has to be at least 6 pages long, excluding the Bibliography
Has to be single-spaced and in a 10-point font.
Has to be typed using a word processing program.
Has to have a Bibliography which includes the most recent publications on the topic and a Literature Search by the Library
Has to have a copy on a computer disc as well as a hard copy
Has to use good grammar, syntax, and contain no errors in spelling. Paragraphs have to flow together.
Due dates:
Topic is to be selected by 8 September at the beginning of the lecture; paper can not be chosen after this time and date; duplicate papers are not acceptable.
An complete Outline of the paper, acceptable to the instructors, is to be completed by Tu November 9; if the outline is not acceptable, you can not complete the paper. You are to discuss what is meant by a complete outline prior to this date.
Paper has to be completed and turned in by Tu December 7
