Meyer's Site

This site is located on private property in the town of Fieldbrook. The archaeology department was alerted to the presence of this site by the property owner during ground disturbing activities associated with construction. Humboldt State University Archaeological Field Methods classes have conducted ongoing excavations at this site since 1993. Previously recovered artifactual evidence has been catalogued and examined, however additional excavation by the current field methods class is tentatively planned duri ng this semester.

Analysis is still incomplete, among other things we are awaiting results of obsidian hydration tests. A preliminary report is currently in progress by Steve Hilton, a senior Anthropology major, under the supervision of James Roscoe, archaeological instructor.

More information still to come about the Meyer's site.
