University Police Department Will No Longer Provide Ink Fingerprinting Services

Information to all agencies and applicants requesting fingerprint submissions:

As of August 1, 2006, the University Police Department will no longer provide ink fingerprinting services.

Department of Justice Announcement: Fingerprint Submission Change. Effective July 1, 2005 Penal Code section 11077.1 mandates the Department of Justice only accept electronically transmitted fingerprint images from regulatory entities performing background investigations of applicants. FD-258 fingerprint cards should not be submitted after July 1, 2005.

If you have ink fingerprint cards from your requesting agency in California, please forward this information to them.

Applicant Agencies needing authorization for electronically transmitted Fingerprinting Submissions may find these links helpful:

  1. http://ag.ca.gov/fingerprints/ is the web page for the office of the Attorney General in California.
  2. Click on Applicant Agencies, and click on Live Scan Request Packet.
  3. The Applicant Agency will need to fill out these forms and return them to the Department of Justice.

Many live scan questions are answered on the Attorney General's web page. Department of Justice phone numbers are listed for follow up questions.

If you require ink fingerprint submission cards from another state, please contact the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department regarding ink prints at 707-445-7251.
